Jessica Smith, a 27-year-old mother from Amory, Mississippi, USA, went on to liken her daughter to the Game of Thrones character Daenerys due to their shared silvery locks.
Upon arriving at Gilmore Memorial Hospital, Jessica was prepared to welcome her new addition. After enduring the challenges of labor, she finally welcomed a baby girl. However, the moment Jessica laid eyes on her newborn, disbelief swept over her, and even the medical staff seemed equally taken aback.
Little did Jessica anticipate the attention her newborn would attract when she shared photos on social media. People from all corners of the globe appreciated the images and showered compliments on the adorable baby. One woman, commenting on Facebook, exclaimed, “I love seeing her pictures! She is such a beautiful baby!!! One of the most beautiful babies that I have ever laid eyes on!!!”
Despite being diagnosed with partial albinism, Devina is in perfect health, needing only routine check-ups on her vision. Jessica, initially unfamiliar with albinism, received assurance from physicians that, apart from the distinctive white hair, Devina was in excellent condition. As Devina grows, the only additional care she might require is extra eye tests to ensure her eyes remain healthy and a bit more caution with sunscreen.
Jessica, a full-time mother of three, shared, “I never expected her to have hair like that. I didn’t know until she was born. The doctor told me she had a lot of hair during delivery, but it was a shock when I saw her for the first time; she had so much hair, it was crazy. I hadn’t seen a baby like that before; others had blond hair, but not white. I think it makes her extra special.”
Devina’s distinct locks have already captured attention, both in public and online. Jessica recounted, “She’s so tiny; we haven’t taken her out much, but during a hospital visit, a little girl remarked that she looked like a baby doll. When we posted her photos online, they were being viewed thousands of times.”
As the images and articles circulated across the internet, a wave of comments flooded in. Jessica was not only surprised by the considerable number of shares and comments Devina received but also by the skepticism from some who doubted the authenticity of the images.
She later expressed, “I couldn’t believe how much attention the photos were getting. People thought it had been photoshopped.” However, Jessica and her family reassured viewers that Devina’s hair was, indeed, very real.
